Estepona
From the fishing village to a holiday destination
A place with a long history
The cultural wealth of Andalusia goes back a long way.
Significant archaeological sites tell about the past, different
cultures and civilizations, who settled in this beautiful and
rich region in southern Spain. Estepona was in early times a
settlement of navigators and explorers.
In modern times, by about 1960, the former fishing village grew very fast by local migration from people from the hinterland. The 'el dorado' of tourism thus began, a long period of construction business and expansion.
Nowadays the municipal area is very large and next to the center many small segments have been developed. Approximately 65,000 people report to town administration, the actual population in the summer months is estimated at about 130,000. There are many publications available about the city and the region. We will limit ourselves to let photos speak.
